Short Bio
Eetu Ranta-aho is a Finnish composer working between Finland and Japan. His music has been performed by ensembles including Avanti!, Uusinta Ensemble and J-TRAD Ensemble MAHOROBA
His artistic work has been shaped by studies and musical encounters in Finland, Japan, Ghana, and Malaysia, as well as several years of performing and studying Javanese gamelan. He is particularly interested in the relationship between notation and performance, and in the ways performers bring music to life through interpretation.
His work is currently supported by a two-year working grant from the Kone Foundation (2026–2028).
